How The Program Works

Farmers Markets

Kentucky Double Dollars SNAP Fruit and Vegetable Program (KDD FV)

  1. Swipe your SNAP EBT card at the market manager booth for at least $2
  2. The market manager will issue you the amount you swiped in SNAP tokens, and
  3. The market manager will issue you at least $2 ($12 maximum per person per day) in KDD FV tokens
  4. Spend your SNAP tokens with any vendor selling SNAP eligible items and then spend your KDD FV tokens valid only on Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts
  5. KDD FV tokens expire at the end of the 2017 market season

Kentucky Double Dollars SNAP Meat, Eggs, and Dairy Program (KDD MED)

  1. Swipe your SNAP EBT card at the market manager booth.
    1. The first $12 SNAP transaction will generate $12 in KDD FV tokens
    2. An additional $2 minimum swipe over $12 will result in MED tokens in $2 increments up to $8
    3. This will provide a SNAP customer a maximum of $20 in KDD FV ($12) and MED ($8) per customer per day.
  2. Spend your SNAP tokens with any vendor selling SNAP eligible items and then spend your KDD FV  tokens valid only on Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts, and spend your KDD MED tokens valid only on Kentucky-farmed meat, eggs, or dairy.
  3. KDD MED tokens also expire at the end of the 2017 market season

Kentucky Double Dollars WIC Fruit and Vegetable Program

  1. Present a valid $4 WIC voucher at the market manager booth
  2. The market manager will issue a $4 Kentucky Double Dollars fruit and vegetable voucher (up to 3 $4 vouchers ($12 total) max per customer per day)
  3. Spend your WIC vouchers with any “certified” WIC vendor, and
  4. Spend your Kentucky Double Dollars fruit and vegetable voucher with any “certified” WIC vendor valid only on Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, and edible herbs
  5. Kentucky Double Dollars fruit and vegetable vouchers are only good the day of issue

Kentucky Double Dollars SFMNP Fruit and Vegetable Program

  1. Present a valid $4 SFMNP voucher at the market manager booth
  2. The market manager will issue a $4 Kentucky Double Dollars fruit and vegetable voucher (up to 3 $4 vouchers ($12 total) max per customer per day)
  3. Spend your SFMNP vouchers with any “certified” SFMNP vendor, and
  4. Spend your Kentucky Double Dollars fruit and vegetable voucher with any “certified” SFMNP vendor valid only on Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, and edible herbs
  5. Kentucky Double Dollars fruit and vegetable vouchers are only good the day of issue

Fresh Stop Markets

SNAP participants interested in participating in the Lexington or Louisville Fresh Stop Markets will:

  1. Call a Fresh Stop representative at 207-766-1252 (Lexington) or 502-509-6770 (Louisville)
  2. A Fresh Stop Market leader will call to take the participant’s order and explain the process of paying with an EBT card, and that they qualify for an additional free Kentucky Double Dollars $12 share to be redeemed since they are utilizing their SNAP benefits. The participant will schedule the market date that they will pick up their purchased share and their free share.
  3. The participant will pick up their share during the scheduled Fresh Stop Market event day.

Retail Markets

Good Foods Co-op

For every $10 spent on SNAP eligible items with an EBT SNAP card, a participant can earn $10 in “FV” vouchers to spend on Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts.

When a qualifying SNAP purchase of $10 or more is made, the cashier at any register will provide a KDD “FV” voucher of $10 – limit one voucher per customer per day – to be used within 90 days to purchase Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts.

Lexington Market East End 

For every $5 spent on eligible items with an EBT SNAP card, a participant can earn $5 in a KDD “FV” voucher to use on Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts.

When a qualifying SNAP purchase of $5 or more is made, the cashier at the register will provide a KDD “FV” voucher of $5 – limit one voucher per customer per day – to be used within 90 days to purchase Kentucky-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts.
