We are also excited to announce a new pilot program in partnership with our retail partner Locals Food Hub. For the last few months, Locals has been piloting a retail Meat, Eggs, and Dairy program at their Frankfort retail location, for a total of $20 in value for customers when combined with our Fruit and Vegetable program. 

In 2024, Locals will expand this even further by offering customers triple dollars through private funding from Expree Credit Union in Franklin County. Now when a customer shops at Locals, if they spend $20 using their SNAP benefits, they will receive an additional $20 in agricultural products through Kentucky Double Dollars, and then yet another $20 in products from Expree’s funding. This is a total of $60 going towards Kentucky products and helping families in need. 

“We are super grateful for the vision of Locals Food Hub for both promoting the program but also thinking outside the box for what will best serve their community, ” said KDD director Jamie Fitzwater. “I think this will be an incredible program for families who need it the most, but also for supporting Kentucky producers. Even more, we hope it will pave the way for us expanding the definition of what Kentucky Double Dollars could look like throughout the state in future years!”
